VirginiaKinsella

Dr. Virginia Kinsella was born and raised in Porto Alegre, Brazil. In 1987, she earned her medical degree from Pontifical Catholic University School of Medicine in Brazil.

While residing in Brazil, she also completed residencies in internal medicine and adult critical care. During that time she found her calling in caring for cancer patients. She entered a fellowship in medical oncology and a two year research fellowship in cancer pharmacology. In 2004, Dr. Kinsella was awarded a research grant in oncologic pharmacology at the Biomolecular Laboratory of Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Six additional years of post-graduate training followed - including a three year residency in internal medicine at Texas Tech University Health Science Center and three years of fellowship in hematology and oncology at George Washington University.

Before joining Hope Texas, she was an oncologist at Texas Cancer Associates of Dallas, and is serving as a faculty member in the Hematology/Oncology division at Presbyterian Hospital Plano.


Practice Focus and Philosophy

For the past 2 years, Dr. Kinsella has served as the Physician Cancer Liaison for Community Outreach at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano.

She believes in creating awareness of prevention and early detection of cancers and the importance of a broad social network of support within the community for cancer patients and their families. Her clinical interests include the treatment and prevention of recurring breast cancer, as well as target therapy for hematologic malignancies and lung cancer. Over the past several years, Dr. Kinsella has continued in serving the community in Plano and North Dallas area by participating in several community-based fairs and given lectures in cancer related topic in English and Spanish.

Dr. Kinsella is American board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.

Dr. Kinsella's hobbies include: playing volleyball with friends, to listen to Brazilian music and to spend time with her family. She has two children: Nicholas (born in 2000) and Cecilia (born in 2004). She is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
